My Strange Act
I had an interesting and disturbing dream. Please read with some caution and my apologies for the graphic scene which was put before me. While the scene is still fresh in my mind I tried to share only as much as was necessary to get the pertinent points of the dream across.
I had the dream early in the morning of the 13th of January 2020. I know this because when I woke my spouse was already up and about her morning. I began to pray and ask the Lord about the dream until my alarm went off at 7:30.
I dreamed of a strange place. It was like a hospital, but it wasn’t about saving people…this one was about making sure that people were dead.
There was a woman, floating in a tank. She was suspended in a water-like substance–but thicker, because about half her body was out of the liquid and half in. She was on her back.
I understood that she was dead–or nearly so.
Also that she was pregnant.
The people operating the place–those in “power” wanted to make sure that she was dead and that the child in her womb was also dead.
It was as if I was to witness the death of the woman and the subsequent miscarriage/abortion that would ensue. Those in power wanted both the woman and her child dead.
I watched as someone added poison to the liquid in the tank that the woman was in by turning some knob. As the poison entered the tank it was clear that whatever life she had left was drained from her. As her body spasmed in it’s final death throes a cloudy discharge came from between her legs into the poison liquid.
I saw then that a child had come out from the woman in the spasms and the discharge.
Fearing the fate in store for the child I went to the edge of the tank, reached in, and pulled the child out.
It was a new born, perfectly formed, baby girl. She was beautiful.
I immediately feared for her young life. Those in power wanted her dead. But it seemed that I had the power to help her escape–to get away from the poison room of death. As I started to carry her away I distinctly heard, “My strange act!”
I woke, left wondering at the strange, disturbing dream.
I had witnessed the death of a woman–and there was nothing I could think to do to save her. She was already in a non-responsive state. She appeared dead, even before the poison was added to her tank.
But I had seen something beautiful and new come forth out of the dead woman–a baby girl, perfect, and full of life. Even the poison in the tank had no effect on her, even though she had been born in the midst of that horrific and deadly tank.
I prayed to the Lord to understand the meaning of the dream.
It was given me to understand that, similar to the book of Revelations, the woman represented the church. However this was the modern church–one in which was little or no life. It was being poisoned even now by the Babylonian systems–by gain, by power, by popularity, by the lusts of the flesh, and the things of this world. The modern church is in its death throes. Those in power are gleeful and happy to see and bring about its death. The poison is already added and is taking effect.
But inside that dying church exists another church. One which is beautiful and full of life. One which will not be affected by the poisons that kill its mother. One which trusts in the living God and not in the arm of flesh. One which will grow and mature into such a one as is capable of bearing the man child–the kingdom of God on Earth!
The dream was at once: sad but hopeful, discouraging but faith promoting, painful but full of promise, truly a bittersweet experience to behold.
“My strange act!”, the Lord said.
And no, I do not believe that this was the fullness of said “strange act”.
I felt that this was only the beginning of the Lord’s “strange act”…
Some related scriptures and thoughts –
Isaiah 28:21 – For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
Perazim – where the Lord destroyed David’s enemies before him.
Gibeon – where the Lord destroyed Joshua’s enemies and the sun stood still.
Strange Work – Strange here is more properly translated “estranged”– something that was once known or familiar. Work here is properly translated as work/deed/task and is a masculine noun
Strange Act – Strange here is more properly translated as “foreign” or “unfamiliar” – something that has never been know or understood, alien in nature. Act here is more properly translated “service” or “labour” and is a feminine noun.
Doctrine and Covenants 95:4-5 – For the preparation wherewith I design to prepare mine apostles to prune my vineyard for the last time, that I may bring to pass my strange act, that I may pour out my Spirit upon all flesh–But behold, verily I say unto you, that there are many who have been ordained among you, whom I have called but few of them are chosen.
Doctrine and Covenants 101:93-95 – What I have said unto you must needs be, that all men may be left without excuse; That wise men and rulers may hear and know that which they have never considered; That I may proceed to bring to pass my act, my strange act, and perform my work, my strange work, that men may discern between the righteous and the wicked, saith your God.
