Of Charity
The effects which flow from charity
Jesus Christ and charity
- Having laid the foundation of what charity is, the objects and virtues upon which it rests, and how it is obtained, we now turn to the effects which flow from one who has obtained charity.
- There is no better example than our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. For he truly said, “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:8-13
- All things the Savior did, he did with charity because all things he did, he did according to his Father’s will.
- The Savior was and is the manifestation of the love of God, the Father.
